frequently asked questionsRosacea

Rosacea is a skin condition that affects part of the face. It is sometimes called ‘Acne rosacea’ as it can look similar, however it is a different condition to acne.

<empty>It is primarily a disorder of the blood vessels that undergo changes and become hyper responsive to internal and external stimuli such as sun exposure, heat, stress, anxiety, rich food, caffeine and alcohol.

Rosacea affects about 1 in 10 people in the UK. Symptoms usually do not start until aged 30-60 but can start earlier. Children are rarely affected and women are more commonly affected than men, but in men it is more severe. Rosacea is more common in fair-skinned than dark-skinned people.

There is no permanent cure for Rosacea, but Laser treatment has become very popular and successful in reducing the appearance of redness and flushing. Our Lumenis One laser system allows us to target blood vessels of different diameter at different levels, using multiple passes at different settings. Using moderate energy levels, we hope to successfully treat as many vessels as possible whilst minimising the risk of thermal damage to the skin. These treatments are also combined with topical applications.

Our Rosacea Treatment programme includes:

All treatments are preceded by a consultation and thorough skin assessment.
