FAQs - Rosacea
How can it be treated?
Sufferers have traditionally been prescribed oral and topical antibiotics to reduce the effects of Rosacea. However Intense Pulse Light (IPL) has also been clinically proven to successfully reduce the effects. Its works by using light energy to target the problem capillaries in the skin. The heat generated damages the blood vessels and the body then reabsorbs them. There are a group of patients not responsive to the laser treatment, but the majority of the patients can be successfully treated. The effect of the serums that we will provide you with, enhances the effect of the laser and contributes to an improved skin appearance.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required depends on the severity of the Rosacea. However, because of the high specification of our IPL laser, you’ll need fewer treatments with us than a clinic performing a similar procedure with an inferior laser. The average is 3 to 4.
Will it hurt?
The treatment doesn’t hurt although some patients notice a sensation similar to the snap of an elastic band or a sting with each laser flash. The treatment won’t disrupt your daily routine and as no local anaesthesia is required, you should be able to go back to work straight away. The products will generally be well tolerated but occasionally some skin irritation can happen, which usually responds to reducing the frequency of application and increasing the moisturiser.
When will I see the results?
Depending on the severity of your Rosacea, you should notice an improvement a few days after your initial treatment. The majority of the patients will respond well, but there are a small number of patients which do not respond to IPL. Unfortunately this cannot be foreseen, and whilst every effort will be made to obtain a satisfactory outcome, for this reason 100% success cannot be guaranteed.
If you are unfortunately non respondent to the laser, still you should have benefit from following the programme using the products included.
