Genuine dermarollerGenuine Dermaroller - FAQS

What is a genuine dermaroller?
A genuine dermaroller is a surgical grade needling device which uses a sterile single-use roller to make thousands of microscopics superficial needle columns in the skin.

How does it work?
The production of thousands of needle columns in the skin triggers a natural repair and regeneration response in the dermis. (the deeper layers of the skin)
The repair generates new collagen and elastin, new skin cells and enhances the blood supply all of which lead to a visible improvement of the skin over the weeks following treatment.

Will it hurt?
30 minutes before treatment, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated. This has a temporary numbing effect on the skin and makes the treatment comfortable.

Are there any side effects?
Immediately after your treatment you will look like you have moderate sunburn and your skin may feel tighter than usual. This will start to subside after a couple of hours and you will normally recover within the same day with a slight redness the following day. ( exceptionally there may be some redness for up to 4 days)

How long does the treatment take?
30 minutes for the anaesthetic cream to work and approx 30-40 minutes for the treatment depending on the extent of the area.

When will I see results?
You can expect to see visible results after 6 weeks.

When can I resume my normal daily activites?
As soon as you feel comfortable to do so. Your skin should not feel sore or painful so it a matter of how quickly the redness subsides and how much that bothers you. You can expect to be back to normal within 24-48 hours but some reactions can take up to 4 days to completely vanish.

Can I wear make-up after treatment?
It is not advisable to wear make-up for at least 12 hours after treatment. (You may wear specialist mineral make-up- please take advise from your practitioner as to suitable brands)
