frequently asked questionsSkin Peels - Physician Strength

A peel is a resurfacing treatment designed to improve and enhance the skin. Its benefits are skin clarity, even skin tone, uniform colour and improved texture.

In many cases a peel eliminates the need
for cosmetic foundation and can significantly
help acne and acne-prone skin.

We use the highest quality, self-neutralising products from the Rationale Procedure Range. These are medical grade peels only available to trained medical professionals and should not be confused with mild peels available to the general public on the High Street.

The treatment involves a simple 20 minute procedure which painlessly removes the micro-thin top layer of skin. It is this top layer which is a significant obstruction to having better skin because it is a natural barrier, but stops beneficial products from penetrating to deeper areas where their action is needed. A course is needed to achieve the optimum result without scarring and damaging the skin.

A simple home treatment programme is devised to achieve optimum results and to enhance and maintain the benefits achieved. Home treatment programmes under medical supervision involve a tailor made skin regime specific for each skin condition using a range of products which can treat sun-damage, pigmentation, coarse textured and acne-prone skin.

A pre-treatment consultation enables Dr. Montero to assess your skin type and advise on the most effective skin treatment programme for you. All treatments are carried out by Dr. Montero, who has been trained in this procedure by some of the leading plastic surgeons in the UK.

Our Peel programme includes:
3 skin peels + complementary products from the Rationale skincare range (detailed below)

Peels are based on Alpha (L-Lactic) and Beta Hydroxy acids (Salicilic acid), Ascorbic Acid and TCA (Tri-chloroacetic acid).

The peels are adjusted in type and strength to best suit your skin type and your particular condition. The products described above can be used alone or in conjunction, but this will not affect the price of the treatment.

For higher safety, to limit the penetration of the peels and therefore reduce the possibility of side effects, these peels are self neutralising, so only the most superficial layers of the skin are affected.

The treatment programme consists of 3 peels (1 per month for 3 months) prescribed to your skin type and need, and products that support peel efficacy, optimising the result. The regular use of these products is an integral part of the skin care programmes. For a detailed explanation of the individual products see our section in Cosmeceuticals.
