IPL Laser Vein Treatments
Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment can eliminate damaged veins and capillaries by targeting the light energy on the vein. The light energy is absorbed by the haemaglobin and converted to heat energy. Blood coagulates and the vessel wall collapses. In time the vessel is broken down and absorbed by the body
Thread Veins
Facial thread veins are red or purple broken veins and capillaries, which appear mainly on the cheeks and nose. They occur on both male and female skin for a number of reasons including age, alcohol, stress, trauma, smoking and sun exposure. While they are harmless, many sufferers choose to treat their facial thread veins for cosmetic reasons.
Leg Vein Reduction
Leg veins are an unsightly problem for men and women of varying age groups and skin types. They can either be small (spider veins) or larger (reticular). There are many factors that contribute to the development of veins including pregnancy, weight gain, prolonged standing, and genetics.
Spider veins form when excess blood backs up in the blood stream. The body releases this pressure by developing new veins. Conventionally veins are usually treated with surgery or sclerotheropy, which in itself can cause scaring, hyper pigmentation and brown staining and in some cases skin necrosis, the breaking down of the skin. At Discover Laser, we treat leg veins with high specification Lumenis One technology, which doesn’t have these risks.
Our system is ideal for treating small leg veins because it can provide both Intense Pulse Light (IPL) and Nd Yag lasers. This mixture of lasers means that deep blue veins, smaller surface thread veins and spider veins can all be treated effectively. To achieve the best result, most patients need a treatment that combines both IPL and Nd Yag.
Prior to your first treatment, Dr. Montero will assess your skin’s suitability for laser and will begin with a patch test as a further safety measure.
