FAQs - IPL Laser Vein Treatments

Thread Veins

How many treatments will I need?
While many patients can see a vast improvement after just a few treatments, the amount of treatments required depends on the severity of the facial thread veins.

Will it hurt?
The treatment isn't painful and requires no local anaesthetic. However, some patients notice a slight feeling of discomfort, which is similar to the snap of an elastic band or a sting. After the treatment, you should be able to work and return to your daily routine immediately.

When will I see the results?
Most people will see a noticeable improvement immediately, although it could require several sessions before you see the full effect of treatment. The IPL and laser equipment used at Discover Laser  is of a high specification and you can be assured the number of sessions required to treat you is minimalised saving you inconvenience and unnecessary expenditure.

Spider Veins

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments you require will depend on the extent of your leg veins. However, as we employ the IPL and the Nd Yag , we can achieve substantial results relatively quickly.

How does high-tech laser/light technology compare to traditional sclerotherapy?
The combined light sources of IPL and Nd:YAG offer important benefits over injection therapy. The combination of IPL and Nd:YAG therapy allows treatment of injectable leg veins as well as matting and small spider vessels that are often too small to inject. In addition laser / light therapy is fast, less painful; minimally invasive without needles; and typically does not require compression wrapping.

I've had other treatments for varicose and spider veins and the problem comes back over time. Does IPL offer a permanent solution for these conditions?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and laser system provides complete and virtually permanent closure of damaged and ruptured veins, both large and small, near the surface and further below it. Since the vein is completely closed, blood cannot flow back into it; consequently, over time the vein simply disintegrates and is absorbed by the body. Other treatment types may not produce this complete vein closure. Be aware however, that patients may develop varicose veins in other areas as time passes.
