Use a primer for the first time and you will see the remarkable difference it makes to the appearance of your skin and make-up.

If any of these scenarios ring a bell, then primer will be your holy grail…

• Your make-up doesn’t last all day
• Make-up slides off as oily skin merges throughout the day
• Dry, flaky, even spotty skin is emphasised when wearing foundation
• Fine lines and pores become more visible when you apply foundation

Primers help to create the perfect base by creating a barrier between your skin and foundation. It smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles, open pores, dry patches, uneven skin tone and spots. It also controls shine, stops foundation from streaking and makes your make-up last all day. Why wouldn’t you be using it?

The great news is, it’s easy to use…

Primer is the last thing you apply before you put on your foundation. Complete your skin care routine as normal, then smooth primer all over the face and neck, including the under-eye area but not the eyelids. Let it set a little before applying your foundation.

Most of the big make-up brands have primers in their arsenal. My personal favourites are by bareMinerals and Smashbox who have developed ranges for different skin types.

Consider yourself primed and ready for perfect make-up.
