Accuvein bruise prevention

“A tell-tale sign of dermal filler treatment, bruising can be an undesirable side-effect. It was for these reasons that we have invested in Accuvein – a handheld device that reveals invisible veins under the surface of the skin.

Accuvein safely gives me an amazing “xray” view of the injection site. Bruises, rare as they were before, are now almost non-existent now. That gives me and my patients tremendous peace of mind, especially if they have an important event coming up.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermal fillers are made of a material called Hyaluronic Acid, which naturally exists as a component of your skin. As Dermal filler is injected under your skin it fills in wrinkles, folds and adds volume allowing immediate, subtle and smooth correction.

Yes. Traditional dermal fillers, usually made from hyaluronic acid, add volume directly and give an immediate result. They can be used to restore volume, improve facial contours or soften lines and folds.

Collagen-stimulating fillers work differently. Although some provide an immediate filling effect, their main purpose is to stimulate your skin to produce new collagen. Results therefore develop gradually over several weeks or months and may last longer. The most appropriate type depends on the area being treated, your skin, and the result you wish to achieve.

To correct fine lines, wrinkles and folds in the face and hands and to reshape and enhance lips, chin and volumise the cheeks.

You will be advised during your consultation as to which is the best choice for your chosen treatment.

Patient reactions vary but due to the use of local anaesthetic in the products and the use of anaesthetic cream on the skin prior to injection there is very little discomfort during these procedures.

Dermal Fillers are generally considered to be safe.

Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the body so should not cause side effects. Swelling, redness and bruising around the injection site are all possible immediately after treatment but symptoms should subside after a few days.

Treatment times will vary depending on the volume of filler being used. The anaesthetic cream will be applied usually 20-30mins before injections which could take a further 30-45 minutes.

You may experience some redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising around the injection sites after treatment. These usually settle over the following few days, although bruising can sometimes take longer to disappear. Your practitioner will give you detailed aftercare advice and explain what to look out for following treatment.

Results are immediate and will continue to improve in the weeks following treatment.

Results are long lasting, up to 18 months (9 months for lips). Duration depends on many factors, such as the type of treatment, the treated area, the individual’s skin type, skin condition lifestyle and age.

Treatment is not permanent – Hyaluronic Acid is a natural product that will wear off as the body becomes used to it. Your face and lips will return to their natural state over time, so multiple treatments will be needed to maintain the look.

At your appointment, our Medical Practitioner will assess your skin health and check your suitability for treatment. Together, you can talk about what you would like to achieve, treatment options, expected outcomes, and your questions can be answered.
