Frequently Asked Questions

Lip fillers are made of a material called Hyaluronic Acid, which naturally exists as a component of your skin. As the filler is injected under your skin, it adds volume, allowing immediate, subtle and smooth correction.

Treatment times will range from 15-30 minutes, depending on the volume of filler used. Anaesthetic cream/dental block may be applied before injections, which could take a further 20 minutes.

At the beginning of the procedure, it feels like a pinch, and then it stings as the filler is injected until the anaesthetic in the product takes effect and numbs the sensation. The use of cannulas makes the treatment even more comfortable. Afterwards, Dr Montero will massage your lips a little to distribute the product, and then you are ready to go about your day.

You can choose to have your lips numbed beforehand with anaesthetic cream or a dental nerve block (just like a dentist would use before a dental procedure).

Dermal Fillers are generally considered to be safe.

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, so it should not cause side effects. Swelling, redness and bruising around the injection site are all possible immediately after treatment, but symptoms should subside after a few days.

You can go about your daily life after treatment, but shouldn’t make any big plans (like a wedding or an important event) for at least a week in case you bruise.

Your lips won’t feel any different than normal. Not even when you’re kissing.

No! Gone are the days of over-blown lips and permanent lip fillers. Dr. Montero prides himself on his natural looking, subtle results using safe non-permanent products.

Your lips will be a little swollen at first, but you’ll see the effects of the lip fillers pretty quickly. Give your lips 24 hours to settle and the swelling to calm. Then you’ll be seeing your filled-out lips as they will be for the next few months.

Results are long lasting, up to 9 months. Just how long depends on the product used, your metabolism, lifestyle and age.

Treatment is not permanent – Hyaluronic acid is a natural product that will wear off as the body becomes used to it. Your lips will return to their natural state over time, so multiple treatments will be needed to maintain the look.

At your appointment, our Medical Practitioner will assess your skin health and check your suitability for treatment. Together, you can talk about what you would like to achieve, treatment options, expected outcomes, and your questions can be answered.
