Acne Scars are commonly atrophic scars (sometimes called ice pick and box scar) and are characterised by being indented or sunken in the skin.
Keloid Scars are scars where the excessive growth of the repaired tissue grows outside of the boundaries of the original wound and are raised, red and unsightly. The commonest areas for keloid scars are on the front of the chest and over the shoulders but they can occur anywhere. They are also more common in people with very dark skin.
Hypertrophic Scars are scars that form within the boundaries of the original injury, raised above the skin surface – but not in excess as in keloid scars.
Atrophic Scars are where the scar tissue is indented or sunken away from the level of the normal skin surrounding it.
Enzyme Correction
An injectable treatment that breaks down hardened scar tissue for removal from the body; this prepares the scar area for further treatment to improve its appearance.
