The total skincare solution

Geneo exfoliation

Tailored treatment

Ultrapulse® combines DeepFX and ActiveFX – two unique fractional resurfacing solutions – they affect different layers of your skin, depending on your specific concern.

We can customise treatment for your specific skin concerns and needs.

Geneo infusion

Unique technology

A high-energy laser beam creates microscopic channels in the skin that triggers production of new collagen and elastic fibres. Some skin is left unaffected for optimum comfort and healing time.

The result is deep dermal regeneration that dramatically improves your skin elasticity and appearance.

Geneo oxygenation

Ultimate results

Results are visible after a single treatment. As your skin heals, you will begin to notice an improvement in wrinkles, fine lines, tone and texture.

Typically, you should expect to continue to see improvement for up to 18 months following the procedure.

My skin post-treatment is better than I could ever have hoped! It improved in the immediate months following the procedure, and continues to get better.

Talk to us about your skin concerns

At your UltraPulse® Consultation, you will meet with Doctor Montero, our highly qualified and experienced doctor – he has been treating skin with lasers for over 20 years. In this confidential and no-obligation meeting, you can discuss your skin concerns, expectations, treatment options and possible outcomes.

Doctor Montero will assess the health and condition of your skin, and check your suitability for treatment before recommending a suitable treatment plan.

Take time to decide

After your consultation, we advise you to take time at home to make a considered decision about treatment. You need to consider taking time out of your normal daily routine while your skin heals. If you choose to go ahead, we will make an appointment for your procedure.

Come for safe and effective treatment in our private clinic

On the day of treatment, you will come to our private clinic in Burnley. Doctor Montero will review your treatment, take pictures of your skin and go through a treatment consent form with you.

The area to be treated will be cleaned, and a local anaesthetic cream applied – depending on the strength of your treatment, you may also receive an anaesthetic injection.

Once the area is numb, Doctor Montero will start the laser procedure.

ActiveFX –  the handpiece is moved in a stamping motion, methodically delivering the laser light energy over the entire treatment area.

DeepFX – the laser glides over your skin, focusing on the areas needing treatment.

Some patients don’t feel anything except heat, while others experience discomfort or a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin.

You can expect the procedure to last 60 to 90 minutes.

After treatment is complete, our doctor will coat the treated area with a hydrating gel to ensure the resurfaced skin is well-moisturised.

Treatment aftercare

Immediately after your treatment, Doctor Montero will talk you through caring for the treated area and will give you a post-procedure care pack.

An appointment will be made for a follow up which is included in the cost of your treatment.

Ultrapulse® is a carbon dioxide fractional laser system developed by Lumenis – the global leader in the field of energy-based medical solutions.

Ultrapulse® is the most powerful CO2 laser in medicine today. It boasts gold-standard technology, enabling the deepest and safest impact.

The Ultrapulse® high-energy laser beam creates microscopic channels in the skin that triggers production of new collagen and elastic fibres. Some skin is left unaffected for optimum comfort and healing time.

The result is deep dermal regeneration that dramatically improves your skin elasticity and appearance.

DeepFX™  and ActiveFX™ are two fractional laser resurfacing solutions of the UltraPulse® system – they affect different layers of your skin, depending on your specific concern.

DeepFX™ penetrates deep into the dermis to target deep-set lines and wrinkles and severe pigmentation.

ActiveFX™ targets the skin surface (epidermis) to help improve uneven skin tone by addressing age spots, sun spots and other forms of discolouration.

UltraPulse® is gold-standard technology but it is not suitable for everyone. This includes patients who have:

  • taken Accutane® (Isotretinoin) within the past 6-12 months
  • a history of keloid formation
  • a dark skin type
  • sun-tanned skin

UltraPulse® is also the safest form of laser skin resurfacing available, however, as with all lasers, there are risks associated with treatment. Common risks include crusting, swelling, bruising and redness. Less common risks include change of pigmentation, infection, redness, textural changes or scarring.

It’s important to have a consultation with Doctor Montero regarding treatment options available and related contraindications and risks based on your individual concerns and medical history, so you can make an informed choice about treatment.

Most patients only require one treatment. Some cases with the deepest lines will need a second one if a better outcome is desired, this will be discussed with you during your consultation.

The main advantage of DeepFX and ActiveFX is that results are visible after a single treatment. As skin heals, there is a visible improvement in wrinkles, fine lines, tone and texture. Improvement typically continues for up to 18 months.

Each patient is individual and response to treatment will vary from patient to patient and treatment to treatment.

A warm sensation is felt as the laser is applied and treatment is typically comfortable. During deeper treatments, any discomfort is minimised by using a local anaesthetic.

Sessions last approximately 60-90 minutes.

Immediately following treatment, the skin will be warm and may be slightly red and swollen – similar to mild sunburn – it may feel rough to the touch. These symptoms can be managed with a refrigerated (not frozen) cold pack.

Most patients are able to resume their daily activities within one to two weeks. A daily skincare routine is prescribed to support the healing process.

Immediately after your treatment, Doctor Montero will talk you through caring for the treated area and will give you a post-procedure care pack.

Showering and bathing are usually not a problem, but sun exposure should be avoided in the treated area.

It is very important to follow our instructions carefully especially regarding the use of any medications or specific skincare that we may recommend. Compliance with the aftercare guidelines is crucial for healing, prevention of scarring, and hyperpigmentation.

You will need to avoid the sun for six months after the procedure. If it is necessary to be outdoors, avoid if possible the sun and use a sunscreen with SPF 50.

Once you’re fully healed, it’s still important to take care in the sun. Don’t try to regain your tan. By looking after your skin, you’ll make sure it stays looking its best.

BEFOREAFTER

Since my late 20s, I’ve looked after my skin, having regular facial treatments and using good quality products every day. Despite this, I had pigmentation and sun damage which were becoming more extensive and weren’t responding to my current beauty treatments or products. I was becoming more self-conscious about the appearance of my skin, especially as makeup didn’t really help either.

I was encouraged by my regular beauty therapist to see someone else to explore whether there were treatments that could make a difference to my skin. Until I met Dr Montero at Discover Laser Medical Skin Clinic in Burnley, I hadn’t realised other options might even be available.

I had several appointments with the clinic therapists and Dr Montero, where my skin was thoroughly assessed and photographed, and different treatment options were discussed and explained to me.

I had reservations about how painful the actual treatment would be and how long the downtime would be. But by the time I came to have treatment, whilst I wasn’t looking forward to the procedure itself, I was definitely confident I was in the right place with the right clinician and had no questions unanswered. The downtime estimates and aftercare processes were exactly as predicted.

My skin post-treatment is better than I could ever have hoped! It improved in the immediate months following the procedure, and continues to get better.

So many people have commented on how ‘well’ I look without really knowing why. I can use less makeup, and it sits so much better on my skin now as it is much more even and smooth.

Everyone at Discover Laser is knowledgeable and friendly and can’t do enough to help you. The clinic is clean, calm and welcoming, and you continue to receive follow-up care and regular reviews after your treatment. It’s also possible to continue to go to the clinic for regular treatments to help maintain your new skin too!

I hadn’t realised, until I did my research, and had my treatment, just how lucky we are to have access to the correct laser equipment and the skills of Dr Montero here on our doorstep in Lancashire – there are very few of these options outside London.

For anyone considering having treatment, just book an appointment with Dr Montero to discuss potential treatment options, especially if you are unsure. He explains things in an easy-to-understand, non-pressured way which will help you make the right choice – at all times, he is calm, extremely knowledgeable and approachable.”
