Non-surgical cosmetic treatments were once considered ‘something just for women’ but I have been welcoming a growing number of men to our clinic.

An increasing number of men are investing in their skin health and appearance. Some have seen the positive effects of their partner’s treatment, while others have learnt from the media that non-surgical treatments are for them too. While they have a common desire to look and feel their best – their reasons for wanting treatment, are far more varied.

My face looks tired all the time
Stress and fast-living can take their toll physically and is most evident on the face. More and more men want to look “fresh-faced” and maintain their appearance to compete in the job market. Correcting lines, wrinkles and sagging features with Botulinum Toxin and dermal filler injections, gives them a stronger, powerful and more confident look, without looking “frozen-faced” or over-done.

I have discoloured skin, lumps and bumps
Many men have neglected their skin (let’s face it, most of us have been guilty of not using sunscreen) and have age spots, hyper-pigmentation, thread veins, skin tags and lesions that look unsightly and ageing. Effective treatments that are non-invasive, quick and have minimal downtime come as a relief and with a great deal of satisfaction.

My eyelids are baggy
Some male patients feel tired at the end of the day due to the weight of excess skin resting on the lash line. Family and friends comment on their ‘tired’ appearance and they are looking for a solution that doesn’t involve going under the knife. Plexr non-surgical blepharoplasty is performed without incision, without removing excess skin or fat and without altering muscles in the eyelids. It’s just as effective as surgery, very low risk, has minimal side effects and downtime, making it one of my most popular treatments by far.

My face looks red like a heavy drinker
A lot of men come to me troubled by flushing, facial redness and broken facial veins. Unbeknown to them they have a blood vessel disorder called Rosacea, which affects areas of the face, and is made worse by sun exposure, heat, stress, anxiety, rich food, caffeine and alcohol. While there is no permanent cure, symptoms can be greatly reduced through a highly effective combination of Rosacea treatment which includes laser. The results make a dramatic difference to their confidence as well as their appearance.

My excess hair is a pain
While a lot of men are thankful for the hair they still have, there are those that have too much. Removing it by shaving and painful waxing can lead to annoying bouts of razor burn and ingrowing hairs. Male patients are starting to discover the benefits of permanent laser hair reduction that brings to an end the constant cycle of hair removal and the problems it causes.

I sweat too much
Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, causes men to be soaked under their arms – even when they’re not working out. Male patients who are changing their shirts 3-5 times a day come to me for annual Botulinum Toxin injections to get their heavy perspiration and confidence under control.

Even though men represent a small proportion of my cosmetic patients, our clinic provides an environment where they can feel comfortable and not intimidated. My aim is to exceed their expectations and deliver safe subtle improvements, to help them feel better about their appearance.
